If you’re a food person, be advised that on anything other than long-haul flights, there is no complementary food offered. There are menus where you can purchase food, but if you get peckish on short/medium-haul flights, be sure to bring snacks!

Does TAP fly to the Caribbean?
Portugal’s TAP chooses Punta Cana for its first flights to the Caribbean AP Air Portugal debuted its first service from the Caribbean, with nonstop flights between Lisbon and Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic with fares starting at $281 each way.
The airline announced that it will start three weekly round-trip flights from December 11, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On Fridays, the flight will depart Punta Cana at 10:50 p.m. and arrive in Lisbon at 10:20 a.m. the next morning. Return flights will depart Lisbon at 4:45 a.m. and arrive in Punta Cana at 9:05 p.m.
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the flight will depart from Punta Cana at 11:05 p.m., arriving in Lisbon at 10:35 a.m. the next day. Return flights will depart Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. and arrive in Punta Cana at 9:20 p.m. The new route will be operated with TAP’s Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, which features the new Airspace by Airbus cabin.
The cabin configuration and design create an updated and modern atmosphere, with more reclining seats in economy, in green and grey tones, and more legroom in EconomyXtra, in green and red tones. “Seating space in regular Economy is 31 inches, while EconomyXtra offers an additional three inches of legroom, for a space of 34 inches.
The A330-900neo has 168 seats in Economy and 96 in EconomyXtra,” the airline said in a statement. TAP Business Class offers 34 new fully-flat reclining chairs that measure more than two meters when fully reclined. TAP business class seats include power outlets for both USB and individual plugs, headphone jacks, individual reading lights, and more space, including increased storage space.

Travelers can also enjoy a stopover in Lisbon or Porto even if their final destination is in Portugal, such as Faro (Algarve); Ponta Delgada, or Terceira (Azores); and, Funchal or Porto Santo (Madeira).

TAP Air Portugal is the currently state-owned flag carrier airline of Portugal, headquartered at Lisbon Airport which also serves as its hub, TAP – Transportes Aéreos Portugueses – has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2005 and operates on average 2,500 flights a week to 90 destinations in 34 countries worldwide.

Flights from Chicago O’Hare will begin June 1 while service from Washington Dulles starts June 16. TAP will fly nonstop to Lisbon from both of its new U.S. cities, offering five flights a week with brand-new A330-900neo widebody jets on each route. The expansion is part of broader resurgence that’s occurred at TAP since JetBlue founder David Neeleman became involved with the airline. Neeleman, who can take credit for several major airline start-ups, was part of a group to take an ownership stake in TAP in 2015. Since then, the company has launched an overhaul of its product and brand. But Neeleman said that’s only part of the picture in expanding to D.C. and Chicago. We matched all of Ryanair’s fares. We added a ton of frequency in the markets where they were flying.” That’s helped boost connecting options that can help fill Lisbon-bound flights with passengers connecting on to other destinations. “It just became a lot easier to connect,” Neeleman said. “There’s a lot more frequency. And our (European) business just turned around. It was always a loser for the company and now it’s doing much, much better.” Back in North America, TAP’s new routes to Washington and Chicago will be flown with one of the world’s newest airplane models.
