You can make seat reservations through the Eurail.com website for 95% of all European trains. To do this, you need a Eurail Pass and a Eurail.com account. You can also book many trains through our Rail Planner App. Reservations for Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the Benelux will be sent to you as e-tickets.
Do you need to reserve seats with a Eurail Pass?
We’re all about flexibility – most trains covered by your Eurail Pass don’t require seat reservations, so if you’re willing to take a slower route you can often avoid the extra cost. National trains will take you to all corners of Europe, and you can just hop on and off as you please.
Can you reserve seats at the moment on trains?
Whether you can reserve a seat depends on the carrier you are travelling. When you make a booking online you will be shown the seat reservations available for you chosen train. If you require a reservation you will be allocated one at the time of booking.
Can someone else use my Eurail Pass?
It is linked to a name and a passport/ID card number. It cannot be transferred to somebody else or used by somebody else.
How do I book an Eurail Group?
To make reservations together with your friends or family, you will need to have already bought Eurail Passes for each of you. Then you can proceed by logging into your Eurail.com account. If you haven’t already done so, you will first need to create a trip in your account.
Do you have to reserve seats on European trains?
On most of Europe’s trains, reservations aren’t required, and there’s plenty of seating for everyone.
How can I check my seat in train reservation?

Do I have to print my Eurail ticket?
Generally, it’s not a problem for optional reservations not to print them (since they’re not required anyway). For mandatory ones, it depends on the train or train company. For night trains, it’s wise to print it since the coach attendant will collect reservations and give them back in the morning.
Can I use Eurail Pass in Switzerland?
Eurail Passes valid in Switzerland also include a selection of extra pass benefits, including free and discounted boat crossings and scenic train rides.
Is there WIFI on Eurorail?
If you are on a train, there may be on-board Wi-Fi that you can use. The app does not update in the background, so you’ll need to open the app when you find a connection so we can check your Pass.

Can Eurail and Interrail travel together?
Eurail and Interrail Passes are valid for travel on Eurostar. But you must book and pay to reserve your seat ahead of your departure date.
How do I activate my Eurail Pass?
Activate your Eurail Pass for free at a European train station. To do this, simply go to the ticket office of any large train station in one of the participating Eurail countries. A railway official will then activate your Eurail Pass by filling in the start and end date of your Pass, as well as your passport number.

No, it’s not possible to add more days or countries to your Pass. If you do decide to travel for longer, you can simply buy another Pass and add it to your phone.
