In the United States, smaller stands are called bleachers, and are usually far more basic and typically single-tiered (hence the difference from a ‘grand stand’). Early baseball games were often staged at fairgrounds, and the term ‘grandstand’ came along when standalone baseball parks began to be built.

SEATING RECOMMENDATIONS – First of all, how does the Early Entry work? If you choose to use the early entry here’s what I recommend. The bleacher gate will open TWO hours before first pitch. The EARLY ENTRY admittance will start around 5 minutes before that.
At the main bleacher gate at Waveland & Sheffield, the gate starts with an Early Entry line on the Waveland Ave side. Then a little further down Waveland the regular line will start. Best to ask people, “Is this the early entry line?” and head to the end of it. When they let you in, the ushers will let the early entry line empty, and then it all becomes one general line.
If ushers give you any issues (they wont), the ticket says “Daily Plan”. That means they are Season Tickets, and come with early entry. Bleachers are general admission seating which means you can sit wherever you’d like. You have to find your own seat but the great thing is if a friend or 14 wants to join you, all they hafta do is grab extra tickets.
If you do go with a group, it’s probably good to elect a sucker to go in early & save seats. I have some preferred spots that: 1) Give you good access to get in & out.2) Give you some comfortable seating 3) Make your bleacher experience more enjoyable.4) Keep you from being surrounded by a bunch of dopes.
With that last point in mind, the bleachers are not the same as they were in the 80’s & 90’s where I inadvertently witnessed my 1st wet t-shirt contest as a 12 year old in 1984. The security is very good about handling drunks & screaming idiots. Anyway, here are those recommended spots.

Our staff wanted to do our best to help educate baseball fans on the worst seats at Fenway Park. Here is the breakdown. Image Credit: Eric Molina (CC BY 2.0) There are four sources of obstructions at Fenway Park. The most popular seats at Fenway Park are the Green Monster seats so we’ll start there. There are three rows of tabled seating and a standing room only area atop the Green Monster. As you can see in the photo above, sitting at a table will prohibit you from seeing certain parts of the field. Most importantly, you won’t be able to see the actual Green Monster and the warning track below. This all changes, of course, if your tickets are in row 1. Row 1 in sections M1-M10 will allow you to see all parts of the field. The Green Monster seats are excellent for one game just so that you can say that you’ve sat atop the Green Monster. Other than that, I would always shoot for tickets in the loge boxes for Boston Red Sox home games. Rows 37-40 of outfield bleacher sections 37 and 38 will also be obstructed by the scoreboard above. This could make it increasingly difficult for fans to see popups, foul balls and sometimes even home runs. Those rows are also more than 500 feet away from home plate and that distance makes it difficult for fans to feel connected to the game. W e field many questions here on a daily basis and one that comes up more often than most would think, is the difference between Grandstand and Stadium Bleacher seating. This quick article will go over the two setups in detail, including the main differences, draw backs and benefits to each seating system.

Just behind these are Loge Box Sections 108 through 152—also a great bet, and a tad less expensive. If you’re looking for a deal on tickets and don’t subscribe to the axiom that hell is other people, then the Upper Bleachers and the Standing Room areas behind left field are just the things.
